Make mondays your favorite day

This is what it feels like when you finally find the right job

Monday, 7 a.m. The alarm clock rings and your first thought is: ‘Oh no, I don't feel like going to work...’ You have no energy, no motivation, just no desire. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you know that things can't go on like this, but at the same time, you have no idea where to start.

And to be honest, that's how you feel every single day.

And then, at some point, there's that moment when you wake up and actually look forward to the day ahead. You go to work and realise: this makes sense. This is me. Not because something has resolved itself, but because at some point you made the decision to really address what you actually need.

I'm Janina, a career change coach, and I support people who are stuck in their jobs and don't know what to do next. In this article, I'll show you how coaching can help, and I'll let my clients speak for themselves. When they eventually made the decision, they thought: “Enough is enough. I need to do something about my unhappiness and frustration.” And that’s when they decided to do coaching with me.

Why clarity about yourself is the first step, not the last

Many people who come to me are unhappy in their jobs, but cannot say exactly why. The feeling is there, but they cannot put a name to it. And as long as you don't understand what is actually missing, you keep going in directions that are just as unsatisfying as before.

In coaching, we work on precisely that: What are your strengths? What are your values? What do you need in a job to make it feel right? It sounds simple, but in practice it requires a lot. Self-reflection needs space, method and sometimes someone to ask the right questions.

What my clients have experienced

Annika, a human resources manager, only realised through coaching how much she still didn't know about herself:

"Through coaching, I got to know myself much better, my strengths and talents, my values, my abilities and my interests. Now I know what I want and what I need. I also see many more opportunities and what is really important to me, both professionally and privately. Janina has a very empathetic and motivating manner, asks great questions and knows an incredible number of tools. I particularly liked the strong practical focus and the many ideas on how to simply try things out."

Steffi, an educator, quit her job during the coaching process and found a new one shortly afterwards:

"Before the coaching, I had a vague feeling of dissatisfaction and a vague desire for change. The coaching made me much more aware of my strengths and interests. I took a look at everything I had already achieved in my professional life. Over time, the fog slowly lifted and I was able to identify what is important or even essential for me in my professional environment in the future. I recommend coaching to anyone who wants to learn more about themselves and is open to new paths."

Melli, a project manager, found the combination of breathing exercises, classic coaching exercises and meditation particularly enriching:

"With a great deal of empathy, patience and clear communication, Janina helped me gain greater clarity about myself, my personal values and my professional goals. The combination of reflection, meditation and breathing exercises made the process varied and created space for reason and intuition. I can wholeheartedly recommend Janina as a warm-hearted, attentive and professional coach."

After just a few sessions, Anthi from Amsterdam already felt like she could see things more clearly:

‘Janina is someone who makes you feel comfortable opening up and sharing your story and goals. She really helped me focus on what's important to me and set priorities. The most valuable lesson I took away from this experience was to stay true to myself. Thanks to this experience, I am now in a much better position professionally.’

Helena from Amsterdam came to me at a time in her life when she was experiencing both a professional and
personal crisis:

"Janina really helped me find my way and gain new clarity about how I want to spend my time and use my energy. Her style is mindful and based on active listening, observation and honest, loving reflection. After each session, I felt better equipped to take the next steps. I also noticed noticeable changes in my thought patterns during our conversations."

After the coaching, Frederik from Berlin felt encouraged to go his own way:

"With a powerful combination of retreat and clear analysis, Janina manages to empower her participants to set out on their own path, not only with courage and confidence, but also with solid tools and an individual plan. For anyone who wants to feel more like a fish in water than a penguin on the beach in their career."

Robin from the USA had little desire to look for a job and even less to write applications:

“We discovered so many positive aspects of my personality that gave me hope, strength, energy, focus, motivation, self-esteem and a better attitude towards job hunting. I learned to see myself from a different perspective and to view myself more generously, lovingly and creatively. Janina's ideas and feedback often showed me things that I hadn't seen myself.”

What they all had in common

None of my clients simply waited for something to change. What they all have in common is that at some point they said: enough. And then they actually did something about it. They took the time to ask themselves seriously what they actually wanted, embraced perspectives that were new and sometimes uncomfortable, and took responsibility for their own professional future.

That is the real starting point for any change.

Mark Manson writes in his book ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck’: "For anything to really change in your life, you have to be wrong about something. If you sit around feeling dissatisfied day after day, it means you're wrong about something big in your life. And unless you have the courage to question yourself and find out what it is, nothing will change."

If you feel that something is wrong in your professional life and you don't know where to start, feel free to book an introductory meeting with me. Together, we will see if and how I can accompany you on your journey.
