The breath is a way to reach that door.”

Breathwork saved me

I'm a fan of breathwork. Not because it's trendy now, but because it helped me through the worst heartbreak of my life when I was at my lowest point.

But let's start at the beginning.

It's 2018. After a break-up, I was stuck in a really intense heartbreak for a whole year. Not the ‘a little sad and then move on’ kind, but the kind where you wake up in the morning (if you've slept at all) and seriously wonder how you're going to get through the day.

On the outside, I functioned. I went to work, smiled, made small talk. But inside, I felt completely empty, a deep sadness that robbed me of all joy in life.

I did everything you do after a breakup: talked to friends, ate chocolate, cried a lot until I couldn't feel anything anymore, threw myself into even more work, tried to distract myself, went on holiday. Nothing helped. At one point, I even spoke to a therapist who specialised in heartbreak, but to be honest, talking didn't help me at all.

I was sliding deeper and deeper into a life crisis and felt completely cut off from myself. I didn't know how to get out of it. I was really desperate.

Then I went on a retreat in the hope of being able to feel something again. There I met someone who asked me, ‘Have you ever tried breathwork?’ I was like, ‘Huh? Breath-what?’

I had no idea what it was, but I was instantly curious. My intuition told me to look into it. As soon as I got home, I started researching and found a one-week breathwork retreat in Northern Ireland. I remember thinking, “I don’t really understand what breathwork is, but I have this inner knowing that I have to do it.”

And my intuition was right.

That week was really tough. It wasn't a wellness retreat, but real, exhausting emotional work.

Emotions came up that I had successfully suppressed for months. There were a lot of tears. And somewhere between breathing, crying and complete exhaustion, something unexpected happened:

The knot loosened. Energy began to flow again, and I could feel something once more. And feel myself.

Slowly, I started feeling happy again. I felt lighter and more joyful. Suddenly, I felt an inner peace and serenity. I felt like myself again, and I wondered:

How is it that no one ever told me what breathwork can do?

I wanted to learn more, so I completed a Breathwork training in the Netherlands (and later a second training somewhere else), initially just for myself. Then I started guiding others and realized how beneficial it is for them too.

Breathwork has helped me:

  • reconnect with my emotions

  • release emotional blocks

  • feel inner peace and calm

  • process heartbreak

  • reconnect with myself

  • find my way out of a personal crisis

Breathwork literally means Breath-Work. It’s about facing yourself and releasing emotions. That is exactly what helped me feel more aligned and centered, reconnect with myself, and slowly find my zest for life again.

Breath is the finest gift of nature. Be grateful for this wonderful gift.

What is Breathwork

• Breathwork is a focused breathing practice in which you consciously use your breath to connect body, mind, and emotions.

• Conscious Connected Breathwork is a specific form of breathwork in which you breathe without a pause between the inhale and exhale, allowing the breath to flow continuously. This rhythm creates a direct connection between body and mind, helping emotional, mental, and physical tension to release. Old patterns and suppressed emotions can surface, be consciously acknowledged, and let go.

• Connected breathing is a practical tool to reconnect with your body, your emotions, your inner clarity, and your intuition.

How Conscious Connected Breathwork works

Physical effects:

  • Releases tension in the body

  • Improves circulation and oxygen supply

  • Increases energy and vitality

  • Supports the body’s natural detoxification processes

Mental und emotional effects:

  • Helps recognize and release old patterns, suppressed emotions, or mental blocks

  • Brings clarity and helps organize thoughts

  • Creates a sense of calm, focus, and inner balance

  • Supports a deeper connection with yourself

Each session works differently. Some people feel immediate relaxation, while others experience emotional release, joy, laughter, tears, or increased energy and presence.

Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.

“I really found my sessions of breathwork with Janina transformational. Firstly, in focusing on and then working with such a fundamental process which one so easily overlooks (i.e how I personally breathed) I found it has brought a much needed sense of calmness and stability. Secondly, Janina's sensitive approach & proficiency has enabled me to continue my own breathwork journey which I now do everyday and which has helped activate a new chapter in my life.”

I had several breathwork sessions with Janina, and every single one was really special. She first gave me an introduction and answered all the questions I had, so I felt completely confident to try it out. Every session was different in the effects it had on me, however Janina always knew what I needed and gave me the right amount of attention and care. Her empathetic and sensitive way combined with her noticeable enthusiasm for breathwork make the sessions with her quite unique.”

I was totally new to breathwork when I had the fortune of joining one of Janina's magical sessions. I expected it would help me to feel relaxed in the moment, perhaps to slow down and recharge after a long day. What I wasn't prepared for was the effect it had on my mood and energy levels for the whole of the next day and even days afterwards. I found myself spontaneously laughing with my kids the following morning at breakfast and it was infectious. It was only afterwards I joined the dots and remembered the previous day’s session. I'm a huge fan of this simple, non invasive technique to restore balance and reconnect with my emotions. Janina is a master of her craft and makes the whole experience so relaxing and enjoyable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone especially if you're feeling a little frazzled or overwhelmed by life.”
